Cytomorphological spectrum of cervical pap smear reports using the 2014 bethesda system for reporting cervical cytology; A two year study in a tertiary care hospital at Puducherry, India

Background: Cancer cervix is fourth most common cancer in world and second India. It considered as a preventable disease when identified at an early stage by pap smear screening test. Aim: This study aims to explore the use of conventional for diagnosis various cytomorphological spectrum cervical reports using “The Bethesda System reporting cytology 2014” (TBSRC 2014), analyze clinical demographic data patients, also characterize age pattern findings/results prevalence abnormal smears among groups well. Methods: In this retrospective study, total 1650 women who attended gynaecology OPD our tertiary care hospital, Puducherry, India between July 2018 2020 are evaluated reported per TBSRC 2014 results were tabulated analysed accordingly. Results: 1376 had Negative Intraepithelial lesion/ Malignancy (NILM) 33(2.3%) Epithelial cell abnormality (ECA). Organisms (15.3%) one frequent patterns NILM involving predominantly 21-40 years group (11%).
